Timing 40hp (mercury)
How do you set the timing on a 40hp Mercury Outboard 1981. I replaced my stator and I forgot the mark the Flywheel before I took it off.

The best thing to do would be to get a manual for your motor. that will give you all the info that you need to know with pictures.

Just roll the #1 cyl. to TDC and install the flywheel to TDC (0 degrees) on the mark
