thermostat poppet valve

I have 1985 or 6 60Hp 3 cylinder model 1600u sn#6549175 and my book is not helping me locate thermostat or poppet valve. I am overheating on plane.Is it under the exhust cover, is there one? Part # ? thanks Ed
