    Default Model Tag Location 1997 Mercury 40HP

    My neighbor is looking at a boat and I went along with him. The motor is a 40 Hp Mercury 4Cyl 2 stroke and we cannot find the motor tag anywhere on the motor. Most motors I have seen have it on the mounting bracket or on the front of the handle area and this one it does not seem to be there. If anyone knows where it is located please let me know.

    It appears that the tag was removed for some reason as we brought it to the original dealer and they documented the information and gave him the serial number so that he could insure it.
