    Lightbulb Mercury gearshift timing

    Mercury outboard 2003 115 hp. I dropped my foot and changed my water pump. After reinstalling foot would only shift to foward. I dropped the foot again and following instructions I found on this site I was able to shift to neutral. With the lever in neutral I reinstalled the foot. Now forward and neutral works fine but reverse locks the prop in both directions. Could I be off 1 spline? I hate to drop the foot again but I need to get it right. Thanks for any help you can give me.

    Reverse locks the prop at propshaft in both directions, neutral spins both ways, forward ratchets one way, locks the other
