    Red face Mercury 75hp 4cyl 1987 starting problems

    I have an older outboard model 6433578. runs good once started. I have to choke and choke and crank till it turns over. then will need to warm up before it will work right. Even once started and then turned off for half hour it will crank on before starting. Can some one help

    I always like to start with the ignition, checking fire on cylinders. Pull the specs. on your plugs for that model to ensure you have adequate heat on you current plugs. If everything there is up to par check into replacing the syphone pump. I've seen many times older setups being hard to start over a simple $14.00 part.....good luck!
