Default Mercury 500 -69. Loose hose from ignition? *now pics*

    Hi!

    New here on this forum.

Got a question i hope you can help me with!

    I got a mercury 500 -69. Thunderbolt ignition.

Today when i were cleaning out the engine, i realised that there is a loose hose going from the "Lightning energizer". From the "L E", there is two hoses, one that connects to the front of the engine, just between the gas connection. But the other hose, it just goes into the engine, near the carbs, and just hangs around there...

When looking at the hose, it dosnt seem like it´s ever been connected to something, so that makes me wounder. Is this supposed to be connected somewhere, or is it just supposed to be loose?

Now i got some pics of the loose hose.

Took some days, as other more important things came up...

    Welll..

In the pics, you see 2red arrows. The one in the bottom, is where the hose connects, and the upper one, shows the hose just hanging freeely.

After some investigations, and talking to other ppl.
I found out that in front of the enging, just between the fuelconnection there are 2nipples.

The other hose from the ignition goes there, but the other nipple isn´t anything connected to.

When trying to get the lose hose there, it clearly looks that someone tamperred with this before, cause the clamps that holds the hose were on the wrong hose.

When switching these, the hose connects fine to the nipple in front.

can anyone plz confirm this? That the hose should really go there!

That dist, or magneto vent hose, on many older Mercury motors attaches to a fitting under that bracket where the first arrow ends then vents outside the enclosed powerhead, below that grab area.
