I bought this boat about 6 months ago as my first and has a mercury black max 175 on the back. Runs excellent and I was curious as to what the lever b/t the power unit and lower by the trim/tilt next to a couple grease fittings. It is a push/pull lever w/ a swing lever to hold it out and looks like when you lower the motor down it will release and push back in. Would appreciate any explanation as to what it is or what it does.
I think you're talking about the tilt lock. Most of them are frozen up from non use. About the only use it is would be to hold the engine up off the road till you get home if the trim and tilt fails. It's not considered reliable for trailering. It's also handy as a safety block when you are working on the LU.
Take care of that beast and it'll give you a lot of fun.
