My Mercury 40 hp 1979 has been at the workshop for repair but without the external cabling. The ignition switch is gone so the external cable end in 6 loose cables. I have searched the forum but I can't find any description of the function of each cable. I would need a description of what each pin of the motor cable socket does. The colors does not help me unless I free them up from within the engine and since it is newly repaired I don't want to do that. The colors of the external cable seems to be different from the ones in offical documentation (Mine are Black=ground, Röd=12v, Yellowish= solenoid, Gray = ?, Yellowish2= ? , Salmon=?)
Does anyone have a description of what the below pins are for and if the should be grounded, open or 12 v when engine runs, engine is off and when the start motor runs?
