Default 70HP Seat leaking On Carb

I went to start the motor for the first time this year and noticed the bottom carb was leaking fuel out the throat. Cleaned the carbs and still was doing it. So I pulled them again and narrowed the problem down to the actual seat on the carb body is leaking. I know this because I switched another needle from one of the other carbs and it still leaks and I made sure the seat was wet so it sealed good.... My question is, can I replace the seat in the carb or do I need to replace the entire carburetor? If so do you guys know where I can find good used ones are a reasonable price?

    Thanks

It would be helpful if you provided a serial number so we now which 70hp you're taling about. Also, are you sure you have the float height set correctly?

Yes the float height has been adjusted and re-checked. I will get the serial, sorry I wasnt aware it was needed.

    Well the year anyway.

A new needle and seat set is generally like $5

I do know the seat is pressed into the carb, and spoke to a few marina's and the consensus is that its not a replaceable part.

A serial number would let us look up a parts list which would tell us definitively if it's replaceable.

If nothing else a picture if it would help some to identify the engine. This is not rocket science.
There are Mercury/Mariner outboards and then there are Force/Chrysler outboards. There is no such thing as a Mercury Force, yes Mercury Marine built them, but it's still the old Chysler engine with updated electronics and a better lower unit, NOTHING MORE..

Were these marinas offering to sell you a new carb, by chance?

The boat is a few miles away and I havent had a chance to go over. Ive been real busy. But I do know its the early 90's. Seeing the Pontoon boat is a 93'. And no they weren't attempting to sell me a new carb. Ive worked on alot of PWC stuff, just havent had the pleasure to replace any parts on this motor until now.

AFAIK there was no Mercury 70hp in the early 90's?

I think you will need to provide serial # after all for certainty. But I am 99.9% sure you will ultimately find that your carb needle seats are replaceable.

Maybe the marinas were not saying it couldn't be replaced, but that they wouldn't do it (for whatever reason; lack of familiarity with that motor?).
