Default 4HP Mercury Gnat - Water Pump & Shift Information

Re: 2 Cylinder Mercury 4HP "Gnat" Outboard
    Serial Number: 9091005

    Hello,

I am attempting to find a water pump kit for the 2 cylinder 4hp "Gnat" mercury outboard. The impeller currently on it has dry-rot and is not usable.

Also, I noticed when I pulled this motor out of the shed that the Shift lever seems to be stuck in the forward position. I don't remember if this was the case when I put it into the shed years ago or not.

With the lower unit pulled, the shift lever moves freely back and forth between neutral and forward, so the problem must be in the lower unit. If this is something that could be easily fixed, I would like to know what I need to do to fix it.

    Thank You.
