35hp mercury (1985) water pump problems

I am having trouble with my engine. I replaced the impeller, but no water is pumping through..any advice on what to do now..and can you give me a name of a good manual that can help me with these problems.Thanks

You can buy a mercury service manual for your motor from mercury parts express for around $70, or a clymer manual for about $25. From I've heard the clymer manuals cover too many models and isn't that specefic.How long do you run the motor? Some motors thave to warm up before pumping water out of the tell tale.Also, make sure your tell tale hole is clear, dirt dobbers LOVE to build their little dirt houses in there.You can run a wire clothes hanger through the hole to make sure it is clear.
