2006 Mercury 40 hp 4-stroke EFI Tach hookup

I have searched the forum and I can't seem to find any posts on how to hookup a tach to my engine. I believe it is a 2006. Serial number is 1C030058 Manufacture date of August 2006. It is a 3 cylinder. I have just a standard tach with three wires I had it hooked to my 1986 Evinrude 30 hp. I have sold that motor and kept the tach. I also would like to know what pulse setting on the back of my tach I need to set it to for the Merc. I do not have a factory service/repair manual, I do plan on buying one when I get a chance but I was hoping that it would be easy enough to get this tach hooked up with a little help.
