2005 Mercury 4 Stroke

2005 Mercury 4 stroke engine, when we went to start the engine it only made a clicking sound. We checked battery level and that was fully charged, even took another fully charged battery and tried that still only clicking and not turning over.
Any suggestions? or anyone recently had this experience would like to give some insight on how they resolved this issue. (would be greatly appreciated)

Go to the Engine FAQs Forum and do "Outboard won't start".

Could be bad starter or bad solenoid, but most likely bad connections in the starter high current circuit.

Let us know what you find.

Check the solenoids and tighten the nuts on them where the battery connects. Sometimes these get loose and won't fully catch to crank over the engine or tilt&trim.

I am looking at a used boat with Merc Saltwater Series 150's year 2005.
Is this a 4 stroke? Does anyone know about what the GPH would be for twins on a 25' sea cat?
