2003 Mercury 25 Bent prop shaft

I have a 2003 Mercury 25 with a bent prop shaft. I am not sure how much but enough to see with the naked eye. I am looking at new shafts but there $300.00. My plan is to remove the shaft and bring it to a machine shop to be straightened (found idea in other posts.) How involved is the removal of the shaft? Any tips from someone who has already done this would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

it's not an easy job and you need some special tools. do a search on here and you will find some detailed info on how to do it
