1998 Mercury 3cyl timing off or ???

My engine seems like it doesn't want to open up. I've replaced the fuel pump and played with the prop pitch. It sputters a bit in the morning and sometimes sounds like it's hesitating a bit when going from 3500-5000RPM.......

Check the plug leads where they plug into the coil my guess is you have a bad connection due to corrosion clean it up & put it back together & use some petroleum jelly to seal the connection

Will do. Also, Since posting I used an aerosole carbon cleaner you spray in the carbs while running, then sit for fifteen minutes, then run for 15. You would not beleive the debris that came out of the exhaust!!!!!Also, bought a timing light and found the timing to be at about 9 rather than 4.5. made the proper adjustments. Will post again after this weeked.....
