I have a 97 V6 135hp mercury outboard that lost spark, i got a hold of a wiring diagram and after disconnecting the black/yellow wire from the outer switch box it started to spark.
Looking at the diagram further it states it has a mercury tilt switch but i dont seem to see it anywhere ... looking at the switch box theres only one wire to each pin where black/yellow goes
would it likely be the kill switch or mercury switch is there anything else that would stop spark ?
Thanks in advance
Also, dont know if its relevant but the buzzer also goes beep beep when ignition is turned on, oil alert (the reservoirs are full) i am not sure if its a faulty sensor or if its related to the no spark issue
Nick, The wiring diagram for your motor (that I have) doesn't show a mercury switch.
The blk/yellow wire you reference is the ignition kill circuit, that runs to the ignition switch. Maybe the insulation rubbed off of it somewhere (inside the MerControl?) and grouinded it to some metal. That would kill the spark. Maybe the ign switch is bad.
