1992 Mercury 40 hp 4cylinder outboard cooling system

Does this engine have a thermostat , I can not locate one on the engine and there is no reference to it in the repair manual. If it does have a thermostat can someone describe where it is located on the engine.

Actually was using the boat that day and ran very well. Trailered it back to the house and was flushing the motor when the water suddenly stopped pumping out of the weep hole. weep hole is not clogged, a friend of mine thought the thermostat might have locked up, then i began to look for it and can not find one. I have not tried flushing or running it again since then.
