    Default 1985 Mercury 150hp BlackMax

    I'm new at this boating thing , just boughta boat with this engine . can someone tell me what temp should this engine be running at? what is the max rpms that it can be taken to without harming the engine . Are these mercury blackmax any good ?

    ALso does this engine comes with a temp buzzer that goes off when hot?

    COMedinaI have the 1985 150 XR2. RPM range for that engine is 5000-5500. Unless it's an XR2 then 5500-6000. You should have a temp alarm that goes off about 240. I think they typically run about 190ish. As for how good they are, I think they're like most, if they've been taken care of, they run good.Dave..
