1981, 9.8 Mercury

I have a 1981, 9.8 Mercury. the engine has 90lb compression on each cylinder, there is plenty of spark, and I sprayed gas into the car. the engine doesn't even back fire or pop. what else can I check. any ideas will be appreciated

when you sprayed gas into the car(b) did you throttle up?
the engine didnt fire up at all?

and how are you testing spark?

and are the plugs clean?

wire terminals in good (holding) condition?

this thing us a single coil? or one on each cylinder?
