1981 25 hp mercury flooding at startup

could someone help. when I start the motor I turn the enrichener full on the motor starts an the and the enrichener kicks almost to off and the motor dies. Now I have to pull the cord about 20 times because it floods. After the motor warms up it runs fine although when I go from 1/2 throttle to the lowest speed it chokes and almost stalls. The carb was worked on a while ago the compression is 130 lbs on both cylinders. Also would someone know the low speed jet setup(turns out).I have know manual.

Low speed jet...1 1/2 turns out.Are you refering to the choke flipping itself off?TMD

the motor I have 81 25 hp mercury has what's called an enrichener you turn it full closed and usually it will turn off or at least 3/4 off when the motor starts. It works like a choke.

Seems the motor runs fine now turned the low speed out to 1 1/2 does anyone know if it is better to transport the boat on trailer with the fuel line disconnected. Is it likely my problem is the float in the carb is bouncing and receiving excess gas from the tank therefore flooding on startup.

yes...remove the fuel line.TMD
