1977 mercury 115 hp external wiring harness problem

i got this boat a 1976 glastron with a 1977 mercury 1150 IL6 115 hp #45710221 . that i have been restoring fron new floor, carpet, seats recovered, all new wiring, just the whole 9 yards.took it out one time before restoring. ran great. before we ran out of gas. when working on it later i found the gas filler hose was dry rotten. i think the boat might have been sitting in a field at one time acting as a bird bath from the type of work i have done on it. did not look that bad i though when i bought it. the problem i got now is the external wiring harness that plugs into the motor and runs into the mercury control box. the whole unit had been taped up from box to motor.took tape off and wires to the plug going to motor had been spliced in at the plug head, bad job, but the battery cable wires were in bad shape. i am having a hard time finding another wiring harness. looked at alot of sites can not find one. told my wife this boat will be on the water memorial day. any suggestions will be greatly apreciate. thanks kyle

most any of the mercury wiring harnesses will work I used a 1997 quicksilver on a 1983 motor. Merc has not changed much to them

i was hoping to get info to some place on ebay or other site that i could fine a new or used wiring harness

You won't find them on Ebay too often as most of the 70's harnesses as all pretty bad.However.... If I can locate a good one tomorrow (I said IF) You *might* wanna do an Ebay search on "Mercury outboard external wire harness" on Monday.-W

apreciate the info guys. went to a boat yard today, the only one around memphis 50 miles. man told me it was hard to find a used one in good condition. thanks,
