Well after 2 months of running my boat on a rebuillt merc 2bbl carb, I am still having to fast throttle start the boat after it gets to operating temp and sits for about 15 minutes. Basically when I get to the lake, I pump the gas twice and it starts right up. But after that it only starts if I fast throttle start it. I have taken it in twice and of course it doesnt do it there on the muffs, because I dont think they are running it long enough. So i am looking for any tips that I can do because its a pain having to constantly take it in. It is a 1997 Mercruiser 5.7 in a 20 foot maxum. I appreciate all the help I have gotten on here so far.

If the choke is closed when you try to start it, it will flood. If you open the throttle some, it allows more air and it won't flood as easily.
Find out what the choke position is after 15 minutes of being off after a good run, not just on muffs.
