    Default steering problem? Mercruiser

I have a 1990 SeaRay, 7.4L Bravo 1( old style). I seized the motor and swaped it with a 1998 7.4 (fuel injected with serpentine belt new style). now it is installed when I start it, the outdrive slams to one side. I took the accuator apart and it looked fine. had two mechanics say that is for sure the problem so I bought a new one same results. Has anyone had this problem before or have an Idea of what I should do. I really need to get it back out on the lake while gas is still under 5 bucks a gallon here in UT. Thanks Game Face

try starting it without the belt on it... if it stops then I bet the high pressure check valve is the ps pump is stuck closed.
just because you found it that way... doesn't mean it's supposed to be that way.

Part of diagnostics is spending time figuring out not only what the problem is, but also sorting through what it isn't.

The older the engine is, the chances of it having more than 1 problem goes up exponentially

Boating has always been a rich mans hobby. Buying a new boat gets cheaper every year, but the maintenance, the repairs, and the overall cost of ownership of a boat has never gotten any cheaper.

That is one of the first things we suspected. We tested the pressure and it is okay. It is suppose to be around 1500 and it was between 1200 and 1300. We are a little stumped right now. The fittings for the hoses have pre made ends so they are almost idiot proof. If you think of anything else please let me know. Thanks
