    Default power steering actuator question

    I am in the process of restoring a 93 Maxum Sr2200, with a 454, Bravo 1.

The bilge was a complete botch job by the PO, and I am putting things back in order.

I notice, before we pulled the engine, that one of the power steering hoses that connect to the actuator, was bent so hard it was kinked.
Now that I have things out of the way, I can fix things like this.

    (see pic)
#1 These are the hoses, which I am replaceing. Are they supposed to be routed from below? Not much room with the steering cable in front of it.

#2 This large nut is a knuckle type joint that is loose. It looks like it is made to move up and down slightly with the movement of the steering cable. It seems very loose to me but I am not sure how loose it is suppose to be.

I found someone elses pic on another forum. Does this look like the factory routing?

    (see picture #2)

    Suggestions?

Default Re: power steering actuator question

The position in picture #2 is typical, but sometimes they have to be positioned differently to clear boat obstructions or other items installed back there. The oil doesn't care.
And yes that block moves. It's the shuttle that operates the valves in the cylinder.
The drive manual covers the cylinder, not the engine manual.
