Can I get a regular automotive oil filter or does it need to be a marine (Part Number)? Does anyone know where I can get a manual for this motor online?
Go to the Adults Only section at the top of this forum and download your manual.
For future posts, we need to know the year, the boat, the drive, and the engine.
Oil filters are the same and I highly recommend WIX because they really are better. As to symthetic oil, save your money. You boat engine will in all likelyhood never see enough hours between oil changes to make any difference.
For an engine that has been sitting a long time I would get a oil pump drive from the local automotive store, pull the distributor (note its position) and then spin the oil pump for a few minutes with a drill motor to lube the engine.
