Thanks Ziggy' this is a brand new coupler and I talked to Doug Russel and they said send it back. (not right will replace it). Reading the thread you sent I asked Doug Russel how there made and was told that they are kinda like vulcanized in coupler cup.
It makes sense that the hub needs to be centered and true. ie... if you align up to gimble bearing and coupler the rubber will be stressed on one side as it spins.
Thus creating premature failure. And that does not account for possible off center and vibration. Boy this sounds like I know what I'm talking! Scary!!!
Ok I don't know what I'm talking about! Thanks again guys just wanted to confirm my thoughts on this matter.

this is where i think it's at too....
ya just gotta figure that has to be a fact or yer gonna be in trouble somehow...... good dougrussell is gonna get ya hip. sounds like they know what dons said to be a fact too, that even new ones can be bad...... ie. offcenter, tilted, whatever..... i'm thinkin that as long as ya get the 4 point alignment, yer coupler most likely is stright with the world, with a crooked coupler, i'd guess that 4 points would be hard to achieve....It makes sense that the hub needs to be centered and true.

You'll never get that thing aligned correctly. Send it back and tell them you want one that's straight and true!
For $600 it ought to be gold plated!
