I've been told by the repair shop I need a new water pump because there appears to be a leak causing water to enter the engine and rust the pulleys causing squeeky belts.
I have two questions, does that make sense and should it cost over $1000.00 for the job? This is in Ft Lauderdale. I think they are ripping me off because I'm a female. Also, I had the impeller/water pump replaced less than two years ago. How often does the water pump need to be replaced? This is a 2000 Searay 180 Bowrider 135 HP I/O. What is the risk of not doing the repair and just getting new belts to stop the noise?
Thanks for your time and expertise.
