Mercruiser serial numbers

HI..trying to find the serial number on a 4.3 mercruiser. I found 4.3LG 14098000 on top backend of the motor behind the head. I called the parts house and this number is not the serial number. Where do i find the serial number? Thanks...also,its a 2000 chaparral with a reman motor that was put in 2007.

Unless the "Reman motor" came from Mercruiser, it doesn't have a Merc SN, and knowone here knows what was installed, you have the boat and the engine, so you have to tell us what you have.

Ayuh,... If you're Lucky,..
It'll be on a little aluminum tag riveted to the block, just above,+ possibly forward of the Starter....

Just what is it you're trying to Buy for parts,..??
