I dont think its hitting anything, it turns both ways but is very tight at almost all levels of trim except all the way down. Also my quage for the trim is not reading correctly, could this be caused by low hydrolic fluid and be related?
I've done a decent amount of work on my 1986 140 mercruiser. I have a feeling it might be the U joint. Does it make noise when turned to the side while running. If it does it might be u-joint.
Hi, I am having a problem while my tilt is up the steering is extremely tight.
But its fine while all the way down, any suggestions?
Thanks
I'm guessing you do not have power steering.
Is it "hard" when you lower the tilt just a little? I.E. you run it up to the "top" of the tilt. Lower it "just" off "all the way up" and try it.
It's possible that just you have it in a "bind" all the way up.

I hate when I don't read a post carefully! It's almost as bad as replying to a 3 year old post!
