mercruiser 120 I/O wont fire no spark

just picked up the boat last nite, wont fire up it cranks but no fire, nothing comming from the coil on it, i changed the coil and still nothing. it has the Gm 2.5 motor boat is a 1983 sea sprite i dont think this motor has points? but i gave the coil direct power from the battery and still no spark. any ideas?

If you have power to the + terminal on the coil, Change the points.

It has points unless it was converted to breakerless.

Yeah, it's called the OEM service manual. You can download one for your engine and drive in the ADULTS ONLY sticky at the top of this forum.

You can buy a complete tuneup kit here at iboats. Top of the page, click on Mercruiser parts. Or, you could support your local Merc dealer.
