Any Grease is Better,..... Than No Grease at All.......
A - Battery cable, red wire to circuit breaker, orange wire from alternator.
B - Yellow/red stripe
C - Attachment to starter, no other wires.
D - Purple/Yellow stripe

Well the starter I have has three post a big one which I put the bigger red wire smaller red wire and orange on and then the smaller post I put the yellow/red on and purple wire the bottom post just has a ground wire off it.
And the boat starts and runs fine for about 30 seconds then the teeth start grinding on the starter and so i shut it off but it will keep turning over tell I kill it twice
My starter looks just like your picture but without the d terminal

Then you cheaped out and bought an automotive starter, not a marine starter. Get the correct marine starter and wire it as I showed and it will work.
