Need a little more to go on, did this just start to happen or is this a new boat or...? Try a different switch, it / they may be broken internally. When you say you checked the solenoid, did you mean you checked it against a wiring diagram or that you checked for any breakage / contact with stray +12v? Are you sure it was re-wired correctly?

Does your trim solenoid look like the one attached?:

The solenoid pulls in when one of the small terminals get 12 volts, if the trim motor is running with no power to the small terminal, (which happens when the switch is on), the solenoid is sticking closed and will have to be changed.

Check for continuity (using a digital multi meter) across the two large terminals while the battery is not connected. It should not beep.

ok so i changed the solenoid, i trim down fine but not up, the motor does not come on unless i push the button on the down, i bypassed the limit switch, i put new wires on the reverse inter-lock switch, i done the continuity test from the 3 button switches (control panel) to the plug, all was good, i followed the wire diagram in the mercruiser book, it tested perfect on the new solenoide, i tested the reverse inter-lock switch, what am i missing. my solenoide looks like a standard on, 2 large and two small post, left side Large to red wires, right side large post the blue from the pump motor, top left has the blue from the reverse inter-lock switch, the right small post has the two grounds(black) HELP... summer is wasting away

The blue/white wire on the pump itself needs power to trim up.

The green/white wire on the pump itself needs power to trim down.

Some solenoids don't ground thru the terminal they ground thru the body itself. (mounting screw plate). Do you have the correct solenoid that wires with that diagram. (They are not all the same)

If you trim up are you getting power at the blue wire on the pump?

That answer will tell us alot.^^^^
