    Default Engine Coupler 1997 Mercruiser 5.7 & Bravo III - Can It Be Upgraded To Later Version?

    My 1997 Mercruiser & Bravo III engine/drive coupler has to be lubed every 50 hours of use, outdrive has to be removed to do it, it's a real pain (Thanks for the great design Mercury).

    Can this coupler be replaced with the 1998 and later engine/drive coupler that has grease fittings attached to it?

    End of first boating season and thereafter,
    every 100 hours of operation or once
    yearly, whichever occurs first.

    Engine Coupling Universal Joint Shaft
    Splines - Lubricate


    This is what it says in my manual.
