    Default Belt replacement help on '87 Mercruiser 454

    I snapped my water pump belt and alternator belt. The rubber was still good but it just snapped and a chunk of the rubber is gone too. It happened 20 hours ago too. I had to be towed in.

    I spun both the pulleys and they spin fine.

    How do you get the power steering pump off ? I need to get it off in order to get the PS belt on since its behind it. I loosened the pivot bolt on the PS so the belt would be the loosest but it still wont come off.

    Help???


    And are belts supposed to be replaced every 15 hours or so??? Doesn't seem logical.
