Default 5.7 longblock dipstick plug........I cant get it out!

My new 5.7 gm longblock came with a steel plug in the dipstick tube hole. I tried tapping on it with a small chisel.....no movement. I tried putting locking pliers on it to turn it.....no go. I tried drilling it with a small drill and then tapping it to put a bolt on to get a grip.....broke the tap in the plug. (and i thought it would take 2 minutes to get this plug out and stick the dipstick in)

Now, the head of the plug is gone. the plug is flush with the block. I guess I could pull the oil pan and try to get a drift in there to knock it out....

my question is: Do you think I could knock the plug INTO the oil pan from the outside and fish it out through the drain hole? I hate cracking open that oil pan, new paint, gasket etc.

    thanks ED

You could just knock it in to the pan and leave it. (People are cringing right now). It won't get sucked into the oil pick up strainer. I have found sockets and even end wrenches in oil pans with no damage.
When will people learn that impellers require regular
replacement and are not drive it till it pukes items?

If it ain't fixable - don't break it!
