2004 5.0l mpi tach isnt working

I just bought a 2004 maxum 2200 sr3 with a 5.0l mpi. I took to boat out the other day and noticed to tach quite working reads about 400 rpm all the time enging running or shut off. I checked and the grey/white wire labeled TACH has a rubber plug in it so i know it hasent been hooked up. Where might I find the tach feed to ground out the circuit to check the tach its self.

Try another tach,...

It senses from the (+) on the coil...or possibly the 'puter on yer motor...

wires are on the tach. the wire in engine compartment labeled tach is on the front of the engine. Talked to Faria and they said tach is bad sending it in to be repaired.

will let you know something in about a month i should have tach back
