    Default 1991 Mercruiser 4.3L V6 Timing Setting?

Hello All!!Please be advised; I am not anywhere near a mechanic, but I am not afraid to get my hands dirty. Also, I believe in life there are no stupid questions; just stupid people (I proudly display "Stupid" and chance I can get).OK, with that little disclaimer out of the way, I can ask my stupid question. What is the correct timing for a 1991 Mercruiser 4.3L V6 2bbl? I am having problems restarting the engine after it warms. If I let it sit for more than 10-15 minutes after running, she is very difficult to restart. Basically, she has been out 1 time after a winterization. She runs much worse than she did before winterization. I have only had the thing a season and before I put her away for a long winters nap, she ran great. Heck, I could brush myself against the ignition last season and the boat would fire!! I am thinking it could be as simple as "Bad Gas," but I don’t want to leave any stone unturned. I just completed a tune-up (everything other than timing) and I am going to run some "HEET" and new gas through her this weekend. Thanks a bunch and I hope you all can help me bring my baby back to the way she was!!Sincerely, “Rapidly Loosing my Hair in Seattle”

    8* BTDC..............I Think you've got a Fuel Issue..............With Any Luck....It's the Gas.........If Not, Look to the Carb.............

I have to agree with Bondo. An engine does not get out of time just sitting there, but fuel does degrade.

Bondo, Yes, it was Fuel and it is the Carb!It makes total sense; she fires right up after sitting for long periods (overnight). Even if I turn the Key right after I shut her off, she fires! But when I wait for more than a minute, my defective "Pin and Seat" allow tons of Fuel to fill the bath, thus flooding the engine!!!After the successful removal of our old friend the "Sasser" worm, I am now searching for a New Carb! Thanks a bunch Bondo and I am sure I will be talking to you in the very near future!!MadSearay!
