    Default 1975 Ford 351 233 hp Mercruiser

    I am looking at purchasing a 1975 Starcraft Chieftain Hard Top Express. It has a 1975 Ford 351 233 hp Mercruiser in it with 484 original hours on it. Should I have any concernswith this motor and its age.

    Ayuh,... She's abit old, but most all the parts should be available, although abit higher priced, because it's a Ford...

    An engine compression test, properly performed, will indicate the condition of the engine.
    An inspection (survey) usually costs less than repairing problems.
    If you find an inspector that categorically dismisses the Ford engine, find someone with more experience.
