    Trailerable Cover?

Does anybody know if the following boat cover is trailerable? (and is that really a word?) https://www.iboats.com/shop/boat-covers/westland-sharkskin-supreme-sd-t617xr-semi-custom-boat-cover.html I clicked the "Ask a Question" link and typed in my question 2 weeks ago and then again 1 week...

    Resolved - 1963 75hp Selectric Slipping

I was playing around with this again and I connected the forward coil lead to the harness. Although the upper and lower cases were not bolted together, there was an electrical connection between the gearcase stud and the lower pinion bearing (see pic). The resistance from the upper end of the...

1963 75hp Lower Unit Level and Fill Plugs

It looks like the original screw/seal combo (307551) has been replaced with 18-4255. I bought one from iBoats to test it out. These are the allen head screws, which I like. However, the diameter of the head is too large to fit into the bottom fill hole. It does fit into the upper level hole. The...

    Prop for 1963 75hp Evinrude

Howdy. I came across the Michigan prop (black) somewhere along the line, but I can't remember where. Anyway, the blade roots are much closer to the centerline of the prop than the other props that I have due to the shape of the prop. What is the difference between these two types of props?

1963 75hp Lower Unit Level and Fill Plugs

My parts manual clearly shows the same part for both top and bottom plugs: "307551: Plug and Washer". These are parts #37 and #75 in the exploded view. I had previously bought NOS plugs and I recently looked at my stock of them. It seems that I have 2 sizes of plugs. The threads seem to be the...

    Resolved - 1963 75hp Selectric Slipping

For clarification: this is the Selectric shift, not the hydro-electric. All electromagnetic and no solenoids. Just finished playing around with a cooling system issue and I took 'er for a ride up the river. I noticed that the forward gear is slipping under heavy load. This only happens on a...

    Driving a Solid Core Plug

That's correct, it leads from the water reservoir between the cylinder banks into the exhaust chamber. My guess is that this is probably the first time that one of these plugs has actually come out. I'll post more info about this problem in another thread as it relates to an overheating...

    Driving a Solid Core Plug

As part of troubleshooting another problem, I need to drive a core plug (OMC referred to the part as a "cylinder plug"). This is not a cup-style plug or Welch plug; it is a solid slug about 7/16" in diameter and about 7/16" deep. Has anybody ever driven one of these into place? Any advice to get...

    1963 75hp Cooling Anomaly - RESOLVED

Yep, the cylinder plug is missing (part #306044). With that plug missing from that 7/16 hole, a lot of water could flow from the water bypass area directly into the exhaust chamber and into the combustion chamber through the exhaust ports. The plug was in place when I assembled the powerhead...

    1963 75hp Cooling Anomaly - RESOLVED

Well, this was a pain. After doing a ton of research, getting advice from all of you, going back through my parts engine to figure out exactly how the water flows, and grasping at straws, I've finally figured out what is going on. Based upon the symptoms, there were only so many reasonable...

    Compression Testing 1963 75hp

Motor in signature. As part of troubleshooting for water intrusion into the port bank cylinders, I'd like to do a compression test. The Top Secret file says to warm up the engine first. However, I'd like to do this cold if possible. That's because if the water is coming from a leaking exhaust...
