So I disconnected the battery on my Bayliner 185 4.3 and forgot to take note of which cables when to which connections. The main cables are red and yellow. What is the best way to verify which is positive and negative? I believe the positive should have a wire which goes direct to the starter...
Two times in a row I have fired up the boat (Bayliner 185 with carb 4.3) only to have it idle fine for 8-10 minutes before it cuts out (idle slows down until it eventually dies) and then it will crank over fine but does not want to fire up at all. Checking back in a few days, it will fire up...
I rebuilt the carb on my Bayliner 185 4.3. After reinstalling, I go to fire it up and get no power to the gauges or ignition.
The bilge, vent, etc are getting power. The red/purple wire on the keyswitch is NOT getting any power. I tried to follow the wire but that's impossible.
So the...
This weekend when I was going to put my Bayliner 185 away I had an issue trying to raise the outdrive. It went down with no problem, but when I would attempt to raise it I would hear a click coming from the rear of the boat but nothing would happen. After several minutes and many attempts, it...
2007 Bayliner 185 with MerCruiser 4.3
I need to bypass/test the lanyard. How do I remove this assembly? It seems as though the button must come off somehow, but it doesn't seem to come off easily.
Thanks!
We got our Bayliner 185 with MerCruiser 4.3 Carb out for season preparation. After charging up the battery we attempted to fire up the engine. It cranks quick and starts fine, but it wouldn't run for more than 3-5 seconds before sputting out. With carb cleaner I can keep it chugging along, so...
I have a Bayliner 185 with a couple lighted toggle switches that need replacement. I pulled out one of them, it shows p/n 1706122 on the switch. "SWITCH, SPST LIGHTED TOGGLE AMBER" is the description. It has 3 poles on the back.
I cannot find this p/n available online. Skimming through a...
We bought a used boat and the radio does not work. No power.
It's plugged in, as far as I can tell. What are some good steps to
troubleshoot? Pull out the radio, apply a known 12V power source
and see if it powers up? Check the power leads coming from the
boat to see if they're actually hot...
We hit a small piece of wood and apparently it jammed some wood
into the hole used by the speedo. While wet and dry we've tried to
use stiff wire, air pressure, etc to clear out the gunk. Some of it has
come out, but there's clearly more inside.
Is there an easy trick to cleaning out this sensor?
Re: Gulf of Mexico, off the Texas coast
Specifically, cigarette and cuddy styles of boats, what would
be a generally accepted minimum size to take out in the Gulf?
And I'm not talking FAR out, basically enough to get away from
the bays and inlets where everyone else is zipping around with
their...
I'm a new boater and in need of a fish finder. Well, actually
just a depth finder, but I'm reading that a fish finder is going
to be the better option due to a better view of the bottom.
Are there any simple "work horse" models that I can check out?
I don't think we need color. Our only...
