Help i have a 1998 50hp johnson outboard. when i try to throttle up there is a banging sound in the engine then the boat slams into gear. Ones the engine gets up in speed there is no more sounds and it runs fine. I put it into reverse there is no slamming from it any idea's.
The old owner of my 50hp johnson painted over the plate with the year and model # is there anywhere else can i find out what year it is. I think its is somewhere between the 80''s AND 90's. thanks
Ok i have so far rebuilt the carbs the gas in it is good and clean the lines r good. The power pack was check and is good the plugs r new. When I go to start it it will start and run but then when I shut it down and it sits it will not restart please help if u can thanks.
looking for help i am new to do it your self the my 1968 20hp johnson outboard will start up and run for about 3min than stop and will not start back up (new gas line & clean the carb) and when it is running i have to give it more gas just to keep it from stoping any help thanks
