    Potential Damage?

Haven't been around much lately, but am happy to report my 'new to me' boat is great!! A glitch over the last week and I'm wondering if or what I should be checking for potential damage. 1994 Mercruiser 5.0, Alpha I, GenII I let a friend drive it for a few days while he was at our cabin. (ya...

Tips? - Sew my own boat cover.

Hey All, haven't posted in quite awhile....how was your winter?! Still haven't put my new-to-me boat in the water yet this season. Weather has been lousy. My covers for the boat are toast. I took it to a shop and they wanted $1500 to redo the two covers. (bow and cockpit) Being a DIY'er I...

5.0 Engine sputter when trim is activated

First run out for the boat. (November 8th...in Canada!!) There are a few things that will need to be investigated. I ran the boat for about 45 min with no issues prior to this happening. The last mile to the dock I opened it up. Touched the trim....engine did what sounded like a misfire...

estimated time to change pump and steering cable?

I just got an estimate for some boat repairs. There are a few items, two of which are to change the water pump on the motor and to change the steering cable. They quoted 2 hours for each. (4 hours total) Does that seem reasonable? Boat make and model in my signature....

    Sieving gas from tank?

What I thought would be a straight forward process has turned more difficult. I've pushed 8' of hose down the fuel line and feels like I've hit a barrier. Is there something at the edge of the tank restricting the hose? My last boat had some plastic ports in the floor that I could access the...

Difference between Celebrity "CX" or "STATUS"?

1993 Celebrity 180 "CX". Looking at NADA and the stats here on iboats does anyone know the difference between the "CX" or "STATUS" models? Both have identical length and beam and weight...must be a trim level?

Opinion on Starcraft Eurostar 191 Fish & Ski

Now I know the aluminum Starcraft club is borderline fanatical in their love and passion for those boats. :D How about this fibreglass boat by Starcraft? Build quality? Google was sparse with information....doesn't seem like a lot of these out there. Anyone have one? [/IMG]

    Yamaha 4.3

Can someone explain Yamaha's foray into i/o market for me. Did they build a 4.3 motor? Is it a Chevy based motor or their own? Opinions on the motor? My understanding is their outdrive....well...stank. Are parts available or unsupported? I've read the bolt pattern may be the same as an...

    Looking for boat...

Is it ok to ask for leads in finding a boat? I sold my boat and was optimist in finding another, but its proving to be more difficult than expected. The season is pretty much over, but I'm still looking. I'd be willing to travel to most upper mid states. My criteria: - $6000-6500 USD - 18' -...

    Rank manufacturer quality....looking for bowrider.

I'm sure there has been a thread about this...did a search and couldn't find it. A friend is looking for a boat in the $10-13K mark. Here's the criteria: - 18' - 20' - 4.3 or up (Mercruiser or Volvo) - bow rider - Deep-V preferred - fibreglass - swim deck - buckets and bench layout If you...

    Baja vs. Celebrity

Haven't seen (just spoke to them) these yet so 'condition' isn't factored in. 1993 Baja, interior has some poor condition cushions and sundeck. http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/hnp/boa/1954975661.html 1995 Celebrity. One owner...he's in his 80's. Says minty...

    Sold my boat...WHAT....made money

I bought this 1990 Glastron about a year ago for $2900 off of ebay. Ran it this summer and had a great time with it. Sold it today for $6500. I made about $1500, after a summer of fun...when does that happen!? ...oh crap...I don't have a boat now... Anyone in the Minnesota, Wisconsin...

What's your 'guess' on fuel usage between these boats?

Here are the two boats. #1. 1990 Glastron 175 (17.5') with a Mercruiser 4.3. Mid-hull design, 2000lbs. Sorry, not a great pic of hull and boat, but you get the drift. [/IMG] #2 1982 Webbcraft 21' with a Mercruiser 5.7, Deep-V design, 3000lbs. [/IMG] Say we use the Glastron for tubing 60%...

    Any experience with Webbcraft?

Might be taking a look at a 1982 21' Webbcraft powered by Mercruiser 260. I've done some googleing and know they were built by Bill Webb in Oklahoma. Found a few opinions online, but there's very little out there. Did a search here and this question has been asked before, but I'm going to ask...

    This can't be good...

I just drilled some holes in the back of the boat to install a transducer and water came out the hole. (still running as you see) There is no water in the bilge as I had pulled the plug earlier. The spider/stress cracks are new. I found stress cracks mid hull that were new also. Floor is...
