Looking to replace the floor in my old Crestliner but I’m not sure what to replace the foam with. You see the last guy that did it used that great stuff expanding foam but is that the right or best stuff to use?
this is a early 70’s Dane aluminum hull.
thanks
Ok so I finally got the lower unit on and the carbs rebuilt and back on yesterday.
Started it up and while it seems to run pretty good I'm wondering what's the best way to be sure I have the water tubes where they belong and water is pumping correctly?
I do get water peeing out of a hole on the...
Along with all of the other stuff I've been working on over the winter I've also been replacing the wood on the dash, when I got it there was oak but I got my hands on a piece of Honduran mahogany. Almost ready to stain.
As the title says I'm looking to buy my first trolling motor. I'm just not sure how big of one I really need. The boat is a 1969 Crestliner 16 foot aluminum V-hull. I'd like to stay with a 12volt and of course there is always a budget involved, I simply can't have unlimited funds.i have been...
So I'm finally getting my lower unit back together. I ended up replacing the drive shaft with a good used one and the pinion gear as my original one was chipped. I measured from the flange on the shaft to the top of the pinion gear to determine what shims would be needed.
So now after assembly...
Ok I had this in with another post but got no response so I'm putting it out here separately.
I took the oil pump from my lower unit apart tonight to be sure it was free of debris and such. While cleaning and inspecting I noticed what looks like either a defect in the casting or the casting is...
Ok so I have the prestolite pump on my 115 Evinrude, rebuild parts are kind of hard to find. The pump will move the motor up and down but it won't stay up. Given the difficulty finding parts I had an idea and thought I'd run it by the guys here.
Has anyone "converted" their outboard trim pump to...
So I'm finally taking the lower apart on my 76 Evinrude 115hp.
I got down to actually removing the drive shaft, I removed the pinion nut but I can't get the pinion off of the shaft and of course then the shaft won't come out either.
Any ideas?
Ok so this lower unit is riddled with issues.
Drive shaft has a groove in it from a seal that went bad, looking for ideas on repairing or should I just replace it.
Impeller housing was cracked so I'm guessing I had water getting everywhere in the exhaust housing.
Does anyone have a seal kit or...
I know I found something before but of course now can't find it so here it goes.
1976 Evinrude with the power pilot controls, trim/tilt switch on the dash.
I was hoping to convert this having the button on the control handle. If I am remembering what I read earlier all I would need is a newer...
My apologies if this is posted somewhere but here it goes.
I'm trying to remove the lower unit from my 1976 Evinrude 115hp mechanical shift motor. I've followed the instructions in the repair book but I could be missing something.
Unhooked the shift rod, removed all 5 bolts......if I'm not...
Ok so I bought a repairs skeg for my 76 Evinrude 115hp. Most of the pictures I see it should be straight down by the prop. The replacement one is swept back.
Would it hurt to leave it swept back, as long as it clears the prop, or should I cut it straight down?
I could use a little help with some wiring and figured it would be easier in person.
The previous owner who redid the boat didn't destroy the wiring but he did make a bit of a mess of it. I don't think it will take much to get it all back in order.
So the tilt/ trim on my boat acts as if it has air in the system or its just low on fluid, goes up real slow at first then you can hear a difference in the pump and it goes faster. It also doesn't stay up if left that way.
I was going to drain and fill the fluid but it looks as though the drain...
