Yes missed it. I see Black Warrior Marine posted a pic on Internet of them pulling an expensive Zodiac RIB off beach. You don't work for them do you? Pop up storm hit me once up there. Barely made it to a dock. There was no warning from any marine channel I listened to.
I might have to get a different gauge. The valves are touchy on this SIB and I have accidentally put the valve(s) in full release many times already. My fingers are too fat to get in there easily to clockwise twist close. Had both rear chambers deflate down to 1.0 pound one morning before I...
Apostles Islands. I use a base camp mainland marina. All depends on wind and wave height how far out I get on day trips. I can always make Devils Island sea caves 10 miles out but sometimes a three hour trip back idling through the rollers.
Is there such a thing? Seems to me I ran across something a month or so ago that mentioned it. Just took delivery of an upgrade to 14' SIB and very heavy duty compared to the 12.5' SIB I had. Have a 12 day shake down cruise in Lake Superior with it starting this weekend!! Picture of first inflate.
I was photographing from the RIB following him. Here's a pic of one of my buddies with a ten footer rolling in behind "Big Black." I really loved that boat. I guess they had it out in some 20 footers one day but I wasn't there.
"Big Black" circa 1980 Lake Superior with twin Mercury 50 hp two stroke. From what I remember this was an 18' Zodiac. Note shopping cart bolted to floor. Worked pretty slick for the controls although operator had to stand the entire time which was fine since this was a charter dive boat and the...
Fifty feet. Devils Island is ten miles out from the mainland and the water can be very clear. It's a fantastic scuba dive too. There is a lighthouse on it to steer the big freighters around the Apostle Islands heading for Duluth Minnesota or heading to the other Great Lakes.

Got some different pics this year in Devils Island sea caves due to the wind/wave direction. I can drive "Pack Rat" right into the caves. Water level is up in Lake Superior.
Anyone try this? I'm thinking it would work to get in farther up on the beach if you had heavy breakers. Deflate the sausage keel obviously, try to keep them under the tubes.
Back in 1980's I could fit a 12' 6" Zodiac SIB and 28 hp 2 stroke Mariner OB in the trunk of of a big Ford Torino. Here's a pic of my current 12' 6" SIB in back of six foot bed truck wrapped up like a sausage...so yes you could do it. They make much smaller SIB's check out above under...
I use my SIB strictly in Lake Superior. The past five years I've been running from a mainland base camp but want to camp out on the 20 plus islands in the Apostle Islands this year. The problem is the waves. I could anchor the boat off shore but I know I won't sleep worrying about it. I'd prefer...
