Can anyone help me figure out what this wire is for and why the previous owner has them jumped together? Not sure if it’s a white/red wire. That’s what it looks like to me but looking at wiring diagrams I’ve only seen a yellow red wire mentioned. Thanks!
To this style? What’s the advantage to rigid mounting the Vortec? I know it has a balance shaft and the original motor is non-balanced. Less likely to wear out and screw up your out drive driveshaft alignment?
Thank you for the response! Have not purchased the Vortec engine yet but the one I am looking at has the wiring harness. It appears to have the fuel pump as well. From the photos, it looks like it has everything.

Ran it last weekend and it ran incredibly rich and had a hard time hot starting. I had the same thought, just buy a set and experiment with different jet sizes. Just wanted to see if someone had a good suggestion before I wasted a bunch of time. Thanks!
I occasionally pull my boat to my in-laws mountain house that is roughly 4,000ft above sea-level. My Searay has a 4.3 Merc engine with the 4 barrel rochester quadrojet carb. I have an extra carb that I would like to setup just for this altitude. Anyone have any suggestions as to what jet size I...
Ended up taking he whole pump apart yesterday and the fluid had some clumps in it in the reservoir. Cleaned everything out and it works much better now!
1987 SeaRay Sorrento. Trim works perfectly dropping the motor but is very slow to come back up. Currently have the outdrive off and the rams are still moving very slowly out. Disconnected the up lines and ran the pump. Hardly any fluid is coming out. Any ideas? The attached photo is what my pump...
