    hard shift when engine is not on???????

    I am now getting a hard shift only in forward, when the engine is off... when I start the engine up the hard shift goes away???? should I be concerned ??? rev is fine with the engine off ,just forward....... please helllllllllllllllp!!!!:mad-new:

    marine grease or white lithium??

    Have a 84 70hp Johnson seahorse.. There is a spring inside throttle and shift side arm ... to lubricate it ,do I use marine grease or white lithium grease spray?:facepalm:

    nuetral rpm is to high?????

    have a 84 Johnson seahorse70 hp. Everything works great ,got 5500 rpm on the wot. the idle is fine to when u start it ...Its just when u put it in gear rev or forward then back into neutral .. That it idles too high bout 2000rpms.. I then have to take the cowl off, and manually move the rocker...

    Finally got my 84 70 hp johnson seahorse to run perfect.....any tips on making the engine faster...any props that anyone might have in mind ,for top speed......spark plugs ,electronics etc..............thanks much.:D

    stubborn bushing

    I have a 84 70hp johnson.I am having a heck of a time replacing the middle bushing on the side lever !!! there are 3 ,small one med size one and a large one, that go in the side lever.. the med one i cannot get in there!!!! anyone that knows what im talking about , would apprect. any advice you...

    Timing base sticking needs cleaning

    Have a 84 70 hp seahorse..The timing base is not moving freely..What is th proper way to clean the timing base and or grease or oil.. how free should it move??:facepalm:

    After rebuilding half of this engine(84 70hp seahorse),found yesterday that the timer base is sticking or not moving freely!! when u throttle down or move the throttle lever ,the timing base does not move with it ...thats why my engine has been cutting out when u put her in foward under a...

    timing is not advancing??????????????????

    have a 70hp 84 johnson seahorse..have replaced almost everything!!! Went to do the timing and found out that the timing is not advancing.... whats the problem?????Is it the powerpack or the timing base??? or is it something else?? please help!!!!!!!!:eek:

    help

    This is now the second attempt out on the water with this engine. 84 johnson 70 hp seahorse.... Starts up fine ,putts around at about 4mph in the water. As soon as u put a load on the engine it boggs down or cuts out if u throttle up!!! I will take any advice ,but will be attempting to clean...

    I have a original remote control for my 84 70 hp johnson....What is the fast idle lever used for???Its on top of the remote ,with a picture of a book on it? :confused:

    Stalling when accelerating in fwd and revr

    Have a 84 70hp johnson...Starts up but when u put it in foward or reverse no power!!!!! It actually cuts out the second u put it in foward or reverse....Whats wrong???? It also dies in nuetral now ,when it did not die before....Any input would be very helpful... DEF am stumped at what the issue...

    got the engine running good ..fixd the pee hole prob...Do have a dumb question,but dont know a whole lot about this engine yet....Is a high idle in nuetral normal?????Not too high but enough to question...Is it beccause the engine is not in the water or in a garbage can??? Have not tryd forward...

    Got this engine started yesterday,I have to replace the impeller it looks like. got all the bolts off ,but still wont come all the way down.. was told the shaft under the carbs has a nut to loosen or take off ... Is this rite ?????or am i missing something else?? The bottom did come open but...
