Working on my boat because the wires keep falling off. Everything seems to work the way it is wired but I wanted someone to take a look at this before I start splicing to simplify this. On the I terminal of the switch is the red wire with the extra blade exposed it goes to the wiring harness...
Looking for other solutions to stop leakage around my quick connect. I have replaced the o-ring on the nipple, can't see anything that could go wrong with a 2 year old quick connect? Has anyone done away with the quick connect and connect the hose another way?
While draining gear oil from the out drive, I found a fair amount of metal shavings on the magnetic plug. Two years ago when I drained it I dont remember having any. What should i be looking for to fix or adjust before I have complete failure??
So the coupler went bad. Looking at the engine coupler I need, Sierra 18-2323 it gives the option of buying with or without yoke? My engine is a remanufactured from Michigan Motors from 2008. Is there a way to tell if I have the old style yoke or new?
First day of the season for us and boy what a day! Long story short, 4-5 miles out traveling about 30 mpg the boat went slipped out of gear and then it overheated. There was no water pushing through the hoses. After letting the engine cool down, started up and it would not go into gear. the...
Took the boat out for the first time this year. Had 1/2 tank of fuel from winter, put in bottle of seafoam added 5-6 gallons of fuel. Started just fine and boated out to the other side of lake No problem. When I idled down the engine died, It had problems starting. When I finally started the...
The orange wire and red wire is reading 12.5v on the alternator same as battery. My question is the purple wire (switched?) does that output vary depending on the voltage state of the battery?
Since my last posting "water in Bilge" that was Jan. I replaced all bellows, shift cable, gimble bearing, u-joints. Was confident that the ripped bellows was the culprit for the water in bilge. However after about 4-5 hrs at the lake yesterday I drained 5-8 gallons of water out of the bilge...
Took the boat out today and 3hrs into the day I heard a squeak from the engine compartment. Turns out my lower unit oil reserve leaked from the cap or the rubber vent in the cap? I am not sure why. I filled to the full line with the unit down as explained. The oil dripped into the alternator and...

I am changing the gear lube and per advice on the forum I am cleaning my gear lube reservoir. It was very sludgy at the bottom. I took apart the sensor from the float so I can clean well. I am not sure if the metal band on the float goes up or down when I reinstall the float. Thanks in advance...
I should be finishing my repairs today! Though manuals show how to use the bellows retainer ring drive tool, it is not very clear on the orientation of the ring itself.
I have a Alpha outdrive gen II, ser#OL417484. The part manual states that both were used for that serial #.
Grey Meritor 805536A2 or Black GKN 865493A01. Mine has been replaced by previous owner with a generic I think.
So I am trying to determine which one to buy.
thanks

Re: Water in bilge
Well made my homemade Outdrive stand and pulled the outdrive this evening. Attached is a picture. Gimbal bearing rotated rough and has a lot of play in it so I will be replacing it. I have pulled plenty of oil seals out. It looks like it is recommended to pull the gimbal...
