I'm reusing my connecting rods with new pistons and in the process I lost my notes on the facing direction of the connecting rods. Does anyone know if the rod serial numbers face up to the flywheel or down? I have them installed up now but am second guessing my work now. My repair book does not...
Having trouble finding good powerhead for 1998 Mercury 225hp efi 2 stroke. (OG628001) Mine blew up and not finding much. Is there any info out there to help one find a engine block from another motor style/year that would be compatable?
I have an '86 125hp Force outboard that runs fine when started and warm. I can get up on plane and full throttle everything runs as expected. But when cold it won't start and won't get fuel to the carbs. I have an electronic choke that is supposed to help it start. But about 2 months ago even...
I just put new gaskets and cleaned all fuel delivery ports. No air leaks in fuel lines, and confirmed spark in both cylinders. I'm at a loss to what to look at next. I'm sure I put the gaskets in right. (outside in: diaphragm/gasket, diaphragm, gasket) This is a 75 Mercury 7.5hp Serial number...
I'm trying to rebuild this fuel pump but cant get the third check valve out. There is no access behind it to get leverage to press or tap it out. I've tried to get something in the fuel line hole but its not big enough and I risk damaging the threads. Advice?
So I saw a video on how to time a motor out of the water. Says to time it at cranking speed at 28 degrees and once in the water will be at 30 degrees. I did that and the timing marks are really off but is lining up with the solo line on the flywheel. Is this correct? Or should I make some major...
Had really good advice so for so here is another. I have this 86' 125 Force outboard and really don't want to rely on the alarm buzzer. Its probably just as old as the boat. Found this gauge in a box of parts from the guy I got the boat from. Hoping its compatible. I tried to hook up a ground...
Found some old parts in a box my boat came with. Not sure if a broken mount for this power pack would affect the way it works. Its only plastic so I could use some heavy duty superglue to fix it if it could still be used. Your thoughts?
I had this motor running this morning. It was not great sounding but was running on the hose none the less. I got it on the water and only 100 feet from dock and it cut out with no power. It now won't start... This video now shows what I'm experiencing. I'm at a loss of what to fix cause I've...
