Some tanks have a fuel pick-up that goes all the way to the bottom of the tank. Some have one that ends maybe 3/8 to 1/2 inch above the bottom. I'm thinking it best to have one all the way to the bottom to get any water or debris out and let it get caught by the water separator instead of...
I have a Humminbird Legend 3000 deep depthfinder which was working fine until I lost the transom mount transducer to debris. Websites all say "Discontinued". Any ideas where I can find one that is compatible with these units? If I had one I could at least sell the complete unit,(I've already...
The cabin headlining in my boat has yellowed due to age. What type of paint , (and Primer) would be best to use? I realize this may be hard to answer since I have no idea what type of plastic this is.(boat is no longer in production) I don't think it's fiberglass and is roughly 1/16 inch...
I am considering downsizing and getting a Key West, maybe a 189FS or 186BR, or something of similar size. Their website has some videos of their construction process and shows how they inject foam into the stringer grid system. Has anyone had any structural problems with these boats? What...
Neighbor has a 44' power catamaran with twin bronze props. He pulled the boat out to re-paint the bottom and the boatyard says the props have gotten "Brittle" and this is caused by electrolysis and they need to be replaced. Can someone explain this further? These props are 10 years old.
The engine will not trim out (up) when under power below planing speed. If I pull it back to neutral, or on the trailer, it works. Fluid level is full and unit makes no unusual noises and has no leaks. Any ideas what the problem might be? Are there any seal kits available that might help...
The mid-drive shaft bearing on the 225 is apparently lubricated by water from a small stream from the vertical water tube. I've read posts of this bearing galling and seizing up. It's been recommended to grease this area while the Lower unit is off. What seems to be the best grease to use and...
Suppose you were offshore and your water pump failed. Could you connect a hose from the raw water washdown to the flush port and operate the engine to get back to port without engine overheating? Thoughts??
