Just purchased a 1978 Venture of Newport 23 sailboat. It came with a Johnson 8hp Sailmaster outboard that is capable of charging the battery but is not connected. Does this system require a rectifier/regulator to insure that the battery does not over charge? If it does, does anyone know a part#...
